A Sense of Well-Being and Balance
An Interview With Mr. Ali Khodami, a Dideban (Watcher)
A Sense of Well-Being and Balance
Interviewer: Hello. Please introduce yourself (as is customary at Congress 60).
Mr. Ali Khodami: Hello, friends. I am Ali, a Traveler. My anti-X was opium. My duration of addiction was 10 years. I underwent treatment using the DST method with Opium Tincture (OT). I traveled under the supervision of Mr. Torabkani for 11 months. I have been liberated from addiction for 13 years, 10 months, and a few days [as of 2026, he has been liberated from addiction for 24 years].
Interviewer: At what age did you become involved in addiction, and when did you join Congress 60?
Mr. Ali Khodami: I started using opium in 1368 (1980), when I entered university. Before I joined Congress 60, I tried many methods for liberation from addiction, but none of them worked. I was able to receive addiction treatment through the DST method at Congress 60 on 1380/7/24 (2001/10/16). On 1380/12/22 (2002/03/13), I passed the Guide Assistant exam, and in Farvardin 1381 (April, 2002), I formed a Legion.
Interviewer: What effects does drug addiction have on humans, and can every person with addiction, regardless of the degree of destruction, receive treatment at Congress 60?
Mr. Ali Khodami: The extent of destruction caused by drug addiction depends on the type of drugs and the condition of the person with addiction. For example, one opium user may experience less destruction, while another may experience a higher degree of destruction. However, what is certain is that all types of drug addiction can be cured at Congress 60 using the DST method, regardless of how much destruction they have caused.
Interviewer: Travelers at Congress 60 receive treatment through X-Journey, but this does not happen to Companions. Is the X-System of Companions at Congress 60 rebuilt by attending educational classes?
Mr. Ali Khodami: For a person with drug addiction to be treated, their body, psyche, and worldview must reach balance. However, this is not the case for a Companion. We cannot say that a Companion's body is as disrupted as that of a crystal meth user. A Traveler undergoes X-Journey because their body is disrupted and their X-System has stopped functioning. However, this is not the case for a Companion.
It is true that a Companion has been through difficult situations and may have imbalances in their thinking, psyche, and problems in family life, but the degree of these problems is never as severe as that of a Traveler.
We can now see at Congress 60 that the Worldview teachings provided to companions are sufficient for Companions. The companions who receive these teachings, put them into practice, follow the Straight Path, and move away from negative thinking and those who come to Congress 60 for their own growth and development, eventually achieve a state of well-being and balance. In the writings of Congress 60, we have learned that a Companion is also on a journey, and this journey is not necessarily an X-Journey.
Interviewer: What are the signs of a [properly] restored X-System according to Congress 60?
Mr. Ali Khodami: The most important signs of a restored X-System are a sense of well-being, peace, and balance.
Interviewer: I am a Companion who is now in the Second Journey [we have liberated from addiction]. How can I protect those around me and my community from addiction?
Mr. Ali Khodami: The work of Congress 60 is to guide people through addiction treatment, and it makes no claims in this regard. We can only inform people about the destructive effects of drugs. However, professionally guiding people through addiction treatment is a form of prevention.
Interviewer: What would you say to Companions who have been attending Congress 60 for a long time but whose Travelers do not attend?
Mr. Ali Khodami: As far as I know, Congress 60 gives a Companion whose Traveler does not attend six months to come to Congress 60. However, one thing is certain: Congress 60 never makes us lose hope in addiction treatment. We have had people at Congress 60 who took many years to become willing to be liberated from addiction and reach the point where their addiction was cured. This cannot be predicted or judged. We may see a drug user and think that this person will never be liberated from addiction, but eventually, they do.
Interviewer: Why do we say that addiction treatment is completed by treating cigarette addiction?
Mr. Ali Khodami: Cigarettes are an anti-X and a parasite. Those who achieve the highest level of health in their X-System are those who also treat their nicotine addiction. A First Journey Traveler who begins nicotine addiction treatment at the same time as their First Journey is much more successful and balanced than a First Journey Traveler who still smokes. We can say that a Traveler in the Second Journey who smokes is still addicted. That is why we say addiction treatment is completed by treating nicotine addiction.
Interviewer: As the Liaison Dideban for the Qom Branch of Congress 60, what is your opinion of the performance of this branch?
Mr. Ali Khodami: The Qom Branch is very good in terms of the quality of its teachings, discipline, efficiency, and use of publications. It is one of the branches with which Mr. Hossein Dezhakam is satisfied. However, we have even higher expectations of this branch because Qom is the center of the province, and the volume of its activities should be at the level expected of a provincial capital.
Perhaps one of the reasons for this is that the Qom Branch is not located within the city. The Marzbans (Border Guards) and the Agent of the Qom Branch have considered a new location in the city center, where people would have better access and, in fact, more public information could be provided.
