I am continuing to distribute PDFs of our latest publication—the updated profile of Congress 60 and am receiving many notes of appreciation. People are appreciating the unique integration of medication and psychosocial and spiritual support used by Congress 60 in the treatment of addiction.
I am also receiving question in response to the article that I thought you might one to answer. If so, I will pass your answers along and use them in response to similar questions from others in the future. Here are the questions I have received.
1. Does Congress60 have the leadership or structure (a succession plan) to continue after its founder Hossein Dezhakam?
2. What is Congress60's relationship to NA in Iran? What leads someone to Congress60 v. NA? Do people use NA as a complimentary resource while in Congress 60?
3. Are there concerns about the taper and OD risk in the event of a relapse--
Overdose risk associated with their abstinence goal / once the person has completed the OT taper. Here in the U.S. abstinence is considered high risk for overdose death in the event of relapse.
4. Is it accurate to say that doctors/clinics play a gatekeeping role with access to the tincture, but the tincture's use is directed by Congress 60. That is such a different power dynamic compared to United States doctors. I can’t imagine doctors in U.S. tolerating such an arrangement. How do doctors in Iran feel about this arrangement?
