Dear Hossein,
Thank you for your latest communications. I was delighted to see the video and photos from the farm and to see your bountiful harvest of apples and grapes. I hope your time at the farm was replenishing for you and that your return to your usual duties in Congress 60 will go well. We all need such periodic replenishment rituals. Some of my best writing occurred after breaks in which I did nothing but work to remodel houses in which I was living. There is something about the physical labor that clears the mind for fresh thinking.
Ehsan shared with me the two latest publications of your research. I have added these to the Congress 60 bibliography that we maintain. These new publications will be added the next time we post an update of the bibliography on my website as I expect that our eventual publication of our latest paper will trigger requests to me for more information on Congress 60. I continue to get regular requests for information about Congress 60 from other researchers and from addiction treatment professionals and recovery advocates. I am quite impressed with the acceleration of the number and quality of the papers you are getting published.
I am keeping in touch with Dr. Sarapas and Candace Mouton as to when they will be able to continue work on our second paper. Considerable progress has already been made on the data analysis but that needs to be completed and the paper drafted and submitted for publication. I think this two-part series we are preparing to share with the world will be quite influential in spreading the philosophy and methods of Congress 60. We are also seeing some resurgence of interest in smoking cessation within addiction treatment in the United States, which is triggering more requests to me about how smoking cessation is being successfully integrated into the culture of Congress 60. I am delighted to respond to these requests.
I agree with you about the importance of the work of Congress 60 and our efforts to disseminate information about it to an international audience.
In addition to our Congress 60 research, I am working on a series of commentaries related to addiction recovery that I hope to publish in the coming months. It is getting harder as my age advances to lead major studies, but I do hope I can continue these minor publications for a few more years.
We are in the middle of hurricane season here in Florida but so far have escaped any hurricane threats. As the temperatures get higher each summer here, the threat of every more severe hurricanes causes great concern. The community in which I live is just now recovering from the damage received when a hurricane hit us in September of 2022. Our apartment escaped damage but our building and the local marina had considerable damage. Such disruptions are part of life here in this tropical climate. My wife and I spend most of our time inside during these summer months to escape the heat and to enjoy our time with each other and time reading and pursuing our leisure pursuits. Rita knits, I sketch, and we both are dedicated readers.
Please extend my best wishes and warmest regards to your family and to all members of Congress 60.
Friends and Brothers Forever,
Bill
