Agenda: Inspiration from Ramadan
Speaker’s Words:
Hello friends, I am Hoora, a traveler.
I am grateful to God for allowing me the opportunity to serve in Congress 60. I congratulate all members of the Congress 60 family on the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan. Before joining Congress 60, due to a lack of understanding and low tolerance, I had no interest in Ramadan. But since being in Congress 60, I’ve learned its true meaning and value, and it has gained a special place in my heart.
For us, the members of Congress 60, Ramadan feels like a celebration—because in this holy month, a definitive cure for addiction, which once seemed utterly hopeless and unattainable, was discovered. This breakthrough came through Mr. Hossein Dezhakam in the form of the DST method.
Mr. Dezhakam wanted to fast during Ramadan [in 1996], but due to years of drug addiction, he needed to first regulate his dosage and schedule of consumption (as fully described in the book Crossing the 60 Degrees Below the Zero Zone). By establishing order and discipline, he gradually improved his physical and emotional state. Inspired by Ramadan, he reduced his usage over the span of 11 months, ultimately reaching full recovery—a belief born out of disbelief!
The holy month of Ramadan was the foundation for the birth of Congress 60.
It was also during this month that the Divine Book (Quran) was revealed—a divine guide laying out the laws of existence. It offers principles for us human beings who have journeyed to this world without knowing the way. Similarly, the DST method was discovered in Ramadan. In the Divine Book, fasting (صیام) is prescribed for physical health and rejuvenation. It invites us to dedicate one month each year to self-care through abstinence and mindful nourishment.
The CD on "Autophagy" explains scientifically how abstaining from food for certain hours triggers hungry cells to cleanse diseased, cancerous, or defective ones. Our body is like an intelligent machine that needs servicing and recovery once a year.
Ramadan is a time to reflect on our purpose in life. Our main responsibility is to take care of both our body and soul by using food and all available resources properly and consciously.
The DST method closely resembles Ramadan. For first-travelers, it is much like fasting: avoiding anti-values and taking their treatment medication at the proper time. Throughout their journey, they also learn restraint and abstinence.
In the CD Closing the Mouth, Mr. Dezhakam explains that the mouth is like the gateway to our inner city. Fasting is not just about not eating—closing this gate allows inner feelings, thoughts, and insights to emerge and expand.
Congress 60 has given me a whole new perspective on Ramadan. When we fast together as a group, it generates a unique energy. Through practicing self-control and strengthening our ability to say “no,” changes occur in both the visible world and the invisible realms within us.
Mr. Dezhakam recommends that travelers in their first journey fast partially, focusing on recovery and maintaining physical balance. It's essential they take their OT syrup and nicotine gum on time, as these are their treatment medications.
Some may have quit smoking but relapsed. Yet, with the DST method, regardless of consumption level or duration, full recovery is easily achievable because we incorporate the worldview dimension in the “Triangle of Treatment”.
May this Ramadan be beneficial to us all. May we, through applying divine principles and laws, find inner breakthroughs and reach a new dimension of being.
