Communications of Hossein and Bill (Reply to Bill, August 11, 2025)

August 11, 2025

Dear Bill,

I hope you are doing well. I’m perfectly fine and returned from leave or holidays on Saturday, August 9th. Congress 60 was completely closed for 15 days, during which I, along with my family members, worked on preparing D-Sap. With the help of others outside the family, we managed to produce enough D-Sap for this year. As I’ve mentioned before, the D-Sap we’ve prepared is only sufficient for the members of Congress 60, and we need to start planning for next year’s supply, which will require a large amount of apples and grapes. I believe we should prepare for early autumn.

The apple trees I planted three years ago—about 800 of them—have produced a small yield this year, and I’ll send you some pictures. Similarly, the grapevines I planted three or four years ago have also started producing a small amount, and I’ll send you photos of those as well.

I must express my gratitude for the article you submitted to the International Journal of Mental Health and Addiction about Congress 60, which has brought immense joy to me and all the members of Congress 60. As you well know, this article is a significant step toward introducing Congress 60 to international communities. Combined with the second article, prepared with the help of colleagues from the Chestnut Institute, it will enable a comprehensive scientific comparison to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of various treatment methods.

Dear Bill,
The time has truly come to scientifically reassess all treatment methods. In my opinion, some treatment approaches cause more harm to individuals than the damage caused by drug use itself. Your meticulous planning and execution of these two highly impactful articles will undoubtedly leave a lasting and valuable legacy.

On another note, we are preparing to award shawls to new guides on Monday, August 16th. Approximately 200 new guides will receive green shawls, marking their graduation ceremony. However, this year, there’s a notable difference that may be hard for some to believe: individuals with more than 15 kilograms of excess weight, even if they’ve passed all exams, will not be permitted to become guides. One might ask, what does excess weight have to do with being a guide? In my view, a guide is a role model, and a role model should, as much as possible, be without flaws. Someone who smokes, is overweight, lacks proper etiquette, uses inappropriate language, wears untidy or dirty clothes, doesn’t exercise, or takes advantage of their students is not suitable to be a guide.

Over the past 27 years, I believe I’ve managed to implement these standards gradually and correctly. This is a model, and wherever others can adopt or apply parts of it, it can be beneficial. I believe being a guide carries immense value, and the more refined and virtuous a guide is, the better they can nurture their students.

I’d like to add a few points about your article: You so eloquently illustrated that treatment must address the body, mind, social issues, and worldview simultaneously. Treating addiction without medication and only with spirituality, or psychotherapy is like trying to rebuild a dilapidated house without using proper materials. Or, if we treat someone only with medication, even if done correctly, and neglect their psychological and spiritual needs, it’s like renovating a house—fixing the wiring, plumbing, and fittings—but leaving it without electricity, water, or gas. We’ve said time and again that the body, nervous system, and System X are completely damaged, and their restoration requires addressing the body, mind, and worldview together.

Finally, I’ll send you pictures of the apple and grape trees from the farm, and next week, I’ll share images from the new guides’ shawl ceremony.

Your eternal friend and brother, on earth and in the heavens,
May you remain as vibrant and everlasting as the green fields,
Hossein
