Communications of Hossein and Bill ((Reply to Hossein - February 16, 2023)

February 16, 2023

Dear Hossein,

I was pleased to receive your email of February 14 during Congress 60’s Didehban’s week. My congratulations to the other Didehbans on their leadership activities within Congress 60. I regret that I could not be with you in person and all members of Congress 60 to celebrate this event. Rest assured that I am with you in spirit.  Yes, progress on the book is moving along quite well and I am quite enjoying the process. I am now rereading the manuscript after inserting all of the additional material that you sent to me for this purpose. I am making very few changes, but am reducing any duplication of message where your words were similar in two or more publications that I recommended for inclusion. That is making the book flow much better. I am also reformatting it in the original four inches by six inches that I had first suggested. That makes the current draft just under 200 pages which is closed to the length range we had discussed. I am working about an hour each morning on the review and should have a draft just before or just after my family vacation in early March.  Congratulations on completion of the latest stage of your animal studies on breast cancer. That is quite a milestone accomplishment in itself. The results are quite promising and confirm the value of additional studies.  Beyond work on your latest book, I have been updating a recovery research bibliography in which I document all of the recovery-related research studies that have been completed to date. I do an annual update of this once a year and then post the latest version on my website. The document is a great help to other researchers interested in addiction recovery and to doctoral students who are doing their dissertations on recovery-related topics. I have not done much original writing since my ministroke and feel like work on the bibliography is preparing me for some future writing.

Rita and I are doing well and eagerly anticipating the vacation with my sisters in March. We have rented a house on the beach in North Carolina so we’re looking forward to family time and walks on the beach there. Many of our own nearby beaches here in Florida remain closed due to the recent hurricane damage.  Please extend my warmest regards to your family and to all members of Congress 60. And thank you as always for our continued friendship and collaborations.

Friends and Brothers Forever,

Bill
