The DST Method and the Book Crossing the Zone 60 Degrees Below Zero: A New Approach to Addiction Cure
After 17 years of struggling with addiction, Mr. Hossein Dezhakam finally succeeded in February 1997, during the holy month of Ramadan, by gradually and systematically reducing his drug use—drawing inspiration from the discipline and willpower gained through fasting. This became the spark for creating one of the most advanced addiction treatment methods: the DST Method. A year later, on 6th of December 1997, after 11 months of gradual tapering, he achieved complete cessation and was liberated from addiction. Throughout this process, Mr. Dezhakam documented his daily experiences in detail. Once confident in the method’s success, he compiled these insights into the groundbreaking book Crossing the Zone 60 Degrees Below Zero.
The book “Crossing the Zone 60 Degrees Below Zero” serves as the cornerstone of all Congress 60’s resources. It is a documented study on addiction and its treatment method, designed for patients, families, physicians, researchers, and even judges. Essentially, it functions as a comprehensive self-study guide aimed at clarifying the true nature of addiction and its solution. Through its pages, readers gain insight into the body’s natural opioids and endorphin systems—how they function, and how addiction disrupts them. The book exposes the most critical blind spots in understanding addiction and vividly illustrates the struggles of substance users through 14 powerful images. One of its unique features is its integration of three educational tools: text, illustrations, and music. These images offer profound space for reflection, inviting readers to spend time contemplating and drawing meaningful connections.
Crossing the Zone 60 Degrees Below Zero introduces 14 fundamental principles, which later became the basis for the book The Fourteen Valleys. These divine and unchanging laws guide individuals on their recovery journey, helping them overcome challenges.
Inspired by the book’s illustrations, Master Amin Dezhakam composed special musical pieces, which are now performed during Congress 60 celebrations and anniversaries. Entirely experiential, documented, and scientific, this book establishes principles that validate the truth of addiction recovery.
The DST Method itself is built upon these scientific laws—laws that are regenerative and prevent history from repeating the failures of previous approaches. In the past, treatment often meant abrupt cessation, a method that repeatedly failed. This book, however, offers a structured, scientific approach that has saved thousands from the darkness of addiction.
The book is written in a clear and practical style, making it understandable for readers of all educational levels. It explains the true condition of drug users and reveals why repeated attempts at quitting have failed. While it may not satisfy everyone completely, it prevents countless individuals from sinking deeper into addiction.
Some sections use allegory and philosophical concepts, which may seem challenging at first. To address this, Mr. Dezhakam prepared accompanying audio files for each chapter, ensuring the material is accessible to all.
Through this work, one undeniable truth became clear: addiction is not a crime—it is a disease. The body, mind, and spirit of an addicted person are frozen in the icy grip of 60 degrees below zero. Only through gradual, patient effort can this frost melt, leading to full recovery.
