Dear Hossein,
Thank you for this most gracious invitation. I no longer do in-person or virtual presentation due to some lingering effects on my speech that can arise unexpectedly—effects related to the ministroke I continue to recovery from. What I have been doing is writing out my presentation and having others volunteer to present it on my behalf. In this case, I adapted written remarks that were provided for a national recovery research conference last year sponsored by Harvard University’s Recovery Research Institute. Those remarks are attached. If portions of your upcoming conference are presented in English, it can be read as my presentation. If not, then perhaps Ehsan can translate the attached if you feel these remarks would contribute to the conference and you or someone you designate can present it on my behalf with apologies that medical challenges prevent me from joining virtually.
If you would need a brief bio to introduce the presentation, you could use any of the following: William L. White is an Emeritus Senior Research Consultant at Chestnut Health Systems in Bloomington, Illinois USA. He has a master’s degree in Addiction Studies and has worked in the addictions field in clinical, research and educational roles for more than 50 years. He has authored or co-authored more than 400 articles, monographs, research reports and book chapters and 20 books. His sustained contributions to the field have been acknowledged by awards from the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers, the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, NAADAC: The Association of Addiction Professionals, the American Society of Addiction Medicine, the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence, and Harvard University School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry.
Let me know if there is anything else I can do to support the conference.
Friends and Brothers Forever,
Bill
