The 14th session of the 76th round of Congress 60 workshops in the Academy branch of Congress 60 was administered on May 10th, 2022 at 17:00 p.m. by Mrs. Annie the watcher of the family group as the guest speaker, companion Nahid as the master of ceremony and companion Parvaneh as the secretary. The agenda was “Guide’s week”.
Guest speaker’s words:
I am delighted for having a new meeting with you dear ones after one year. I hope individuals who were under treatment last year have been liberated from addiction, also I wish the same for newcomers. Remember that the purpose of repeating some tips is not repetition; rather, it is a reminder. Someday, we were just two or three people but our population increased gradually. At that time, Mr. Dezhakam believed that companions (the traveler’s family members) needed education since their participation in Congress 60 consisted of just coming and crying without achieving anything. So, he took measures that we learn Congress 60’s training in this place.
We were teaching companions here so that they could perform them at home which was difficult for them as well as us at first. We intended to teach patience and appropriate behavior to people who had suffered a lifetime of misery because of their relatives’ addiction and they knew nothing but moaning. But, they believed that due to financial problems they only need financial support and they could do no more than moan and endure the misery they are facing. Really, what sort of knowledge was needed for mothers whose spouses and children were drug consumers and fathers who could even not put up with their children? We started writing educational pamphlets and we examined cases and obstacles item by item. We examined the behavioral problems of mothers, wives, and children, as well as the reason behind mothers' impatience, which was transmitted to the rest of the family via frowns and unpleasant behaviors. It was necessary to provide practical training for families to put them in a calm state so that they didn't have to express their feelings or problems elsewhere.
Back then, there were many addiction treatment groups that only were accepting drug consumers and they had not any plans for families. But, we provided the opportunity for families to learn, which had a significant impact on the treatment process. Seeing the kindness of mothers, husbands, and fathers inspired us to keep going in this direction.
At that time, we prepared some educational booklets and started the process of educating families and teaching companions how to treat their children and spouses. We encouraged families to calm down and it was our goal to teach them how to manage a crisis at home. As we gained experience, we became more aware of the impact of education on families' behavior, which prompted us to work harder and teach more subjects. Since it was effective and had a good result, we accompanied families ourselves to provide better education. Obtaining good results creates a great feeling inside each individual, which motivates him/her to keep going.
On the other hand, attaining such results made us steadfast to keep going and inspired us to finish what we had started. Through this process, families had become calmer, kinder, and more discreet, so fewer arguments arose in their families, and their lives improved. The presence of a drug consumer and thousands of problems, such as quarrels and immorality, caused family members not to endure such conditions, and leave the family. However, Congress 60's training led companions and their families to peace and tranquility, and their patience increased so they could continue the journey they had started (the treatment process).
This attracted many people who were in other NGOs to Congress 60. We prepared comprehensive pamphlets to help more companions because these loved ones had suffered from many difficulties during their life with a drug consumer and they might end up in a moment and seek divorce. However, divorce could not solve any problem. If it could solve all problems, we would recommend it to everyone. They needed to learn moral principles including patience, tolerance, and forgiveness which were more practical for them and all of which had become forgotten as if everyone had forgotten that patience is the key to solving problems. It should be noted that if anyone could follow a path and achieve great results, you can also accomplish such results by doing so.
Over time, the number of individuals who managed to solve family conflicts with patience increased and we realized that people who used to enter Congress 60 with quarrels, now enter here hand in hand and joyfully. We were happy to witness such scenes. A number of people including Mr. Dezhakam and I remained in Congress 60 due to our responsibility to support our families and also to help other families. We had to organize Congress 60’s rules and training and we expanded Congress 60’s branches gradually. We figured out that nothing will be done with fighting, arguing, and threatening.
How was your relationship on the wedding day? With quarrel and mandatory? Definitely not. Your life began with just one smile, one goal, and one hope. Now we must reinforce hope; Because these men and women are still the same girls and boys who started their lives with love one day. By enduring such difficulties with patience, you will achieve success in your life. It is important to realize that divorce courts are available everywhere, but divorce is not always the ideal option. Everyone here knows that, in many cases, forgiveness, sacrifice, patience, and endurance are more effective than shouting and arguing in solving problems.
