Communications of Hossein and Bill (Reply to Hossein - February 19, 2022

Dear Hossein,

February 19, 2022

I am delighted that your communications with Dr. George Kolodner are going well and appreciate you copying me on these emails. The time you invest in these communications could reap great rewards in spreading your ideas and methods internationally. Like us, George has an insatiable curiosity about issues related to human suffering and a passion to find better answers to past efforts in the addiction treatment arena. He is highly respected in the addiction medicine and addiction psychiatry communities.

It is quite remarkable that members of Congress 60 have escaped the harm from the Coronavirus. New daily cases here in the U.S. and FL have finally begun to decline again and people have high hopes that various public health restrictions will be soon lifted and daily life can return to some semblance of normality. Several extended family members have experienced Coronavirus infections in recent weeks but this new variant produced milder and more short-lasting symptoms than early versions of the virus.

The delay on your Structure of the Body book was perhaps inevitable with all of the other projects you have initiated, particularly the cancer research and the university construction project. I was unaware of your daily talks. This is an excellent way to assure fidelity to the philosophy and methods of Congress 60 and to provide a powerful source of encouragement and guidance to Congress 60 members. When I did that in the years I was directing treatment centers, I found it was also a good way to keep me focused on the most important aspects of my work. Recording your speeches and making them available for present and future members of Congress 60 is also an excellent strategy.

So much of recovery support across the world requires literacy that I wonder what we might do for people seeking recovery who are illiterate. Perhaps a track that teaches reading and writing or that utilizes resources like your recorded speeches might be something we could consider. We do not do effective work here in the U.S. with people who lack reading and writing skills. I will have to give this more thought.

When I have posted blogs of papers related to Congress 60 and your writings, I receive emails with questions about Congress 60 and its methods. Many of these I can answer based on knowledge I have gained from our communications, but there are other I am finding as I read these past emails that I could not answer. I think I will collect a list of these latter questions and send them on to you to answer and perhaps we can put these together in a future blog or at least inform me so that I can answer such questions when they arise. Let me know if that sounds like a good way to proceed.

Please extend my warmest regards to your family and to all members of Congress 60. We are all part of a global recovery community.

Friends and Brothers Forever,

Bill
