اجازه دهید این نامه را با گزارش پیشرفت روی کتابمان شروع کنم. کار تخصصی در سال جدید برای من سبک بوده است و توانسته‌ام پیشرفت خوبی روی کتاب داشته باشم.
تا امروز من چکیده‌های مصاحبه‌ها، مقالات شما و کتاب‌های عبور از منطقه ۶۰ درجه زیر صفر، حال خوش، عقاب سفید، عشق ۱۴ وادی برای ریکاوری و نوآوری در درمان اعتیاد و ریکاوری (داستان کنگره ۶۰) را کامل کرده‌ام.
همچنین پیشرفت قابل‌توجهی در بازبینی ایمیل‌ها و انتخاب نقل‌قول‌ها از سال ۲۰۰۹ به بعد داشته‌ام. در یک یا دو هفته آینده این قسمت را هم کامل خواهم نمود.
وقتی این بازبینی هم تمام شد، پیش‌نویس را ویرایش خواهم کرد و برای شما ارسال می‌کنم تا مطالبی که بیش از یک‌بار در هر موضوع تکرار شده‌اند را حذف کنید. همچنین لیست موضوعاتی که فکر می‌کنم برای کتاب خوب باشند ولی در منابع نیستند ارسال می‌کنم تا لطفاً روی آن‌ها تفکر کنید و به‌صورت خلاصه، مطلب حاوی اطلاعات و الهام‌بخش درباره آن موضوعات بنویسید و برای من ارسال کنید.
وقتی آن نیز تکمیل شد می‌توانید کتاب را بازبینی کنید و اگر موضوعی هست که من در پیش‌نویس قرار نداده‌ام و شما می‌خواهید که موجود باشد را اضافه کنید.
با توجه به اینکه تمرکز اصلی ما روی افراد و خانواده‌های دنبال ریکاوری و همچنین افراد شاغل در حوزه درمان اعتیاد است، فکر نمی‌کنم که نیازی به اشاره به مقاله‌های علمی که نوشته‌اید باشد. بابت این مقاله‌ها حسابی به شما تبریک میگویم. وقتی پیش‌نویس را بازبینی کردید اگر مطلبی از مقاله‌ها هست که فکر می‌کنید برای مخاطب عمومی مناسب است می‌توانید به آن اضافه کنید.
سعی می‌کنم در انتخاب چکیده‌ها دقیق عمل کنم تا بتوانیم مهم‌ترین مطالب را برای این کتاب کوچک انتخاب کنیم که کمتر یا نزدیک به ۲۰۰ صفحه باشد تا بتواند به شکل کتاب جیبی و همراه دربیاید تا بتواند به‌عنوان کتاب راهنما عمل کند و حتی در جلسات ریکاوری و یا جلسات متخصصان اعتیاد به‌راحتی همراهشان باشد تا بتوانند بحث‌ها را جریان بدهند.
بگویم که چقدر برای من لذت‌بخش بوده است که توانسته‌ام با تمرکز مطالب شما را که در طی سال‌ها نوشته‌اید بازخوانی کنم. و این چه افتخار بزرگی برای من است که مسئولیت انتخاب چکیده‌ها برای این کتاب کوچک (کتاب کوچک ریکاوری از اعتیاد: اندیشه‌های حسین دژاکام، بنیان گزار جمعیت ریکاوری کنگره ۶۰ در جمهوری اسلامی ایران) به من واگذار شده است.
این را به‌عنوان موضوع پیش‌نویس کتاب انتخاب کرده‌ام. از تواضعی که اسم کتاب دارد خوشم می‌آید و همچنین اشاره به قطع کوچک کتاب دارد که در نظر داریم. همچنین بازی با کلمات است چرا که کتاب اصلی الکلی‌های گمنام که از برنامه ۱۲ قدمی اقتباس شده است را کتاب بزرگ نام نهاده‌اند.
حتماً بازهم بگویید که نظرتان درباره ایده‌های من چیست. امیدوارم که پیش‌نویس به‌زودی برای بازبینی شما حاضر شود.
این اولین بار است که از جشن همسفر آگاه می‌شوم. چه ایده فوق‌العاده‌ای! اعتیاد لکه بزرگی بر این روابط باقی می‌گذارد، احساس نزدیک بودن و تقریباً تمامی جنبه‌های زندگی خانوادگی را منحل می‌کند. متد دی اس تی آن‌قدر در کنگره ۶۰ مهم است که تمامی آنچه شما برای بازسازی شخصیت، خانواده و روابط اجتماعی انجام می‌دهید می‌تواند دیده نشود (اهمیت و بزرگی موضوعی باعث به چشم نیامدن موضوعی دیگر شود. مترجم).
من توجه به زندگی خانوادگی به‌عنوان بخشی از پروسه ریکاوری را مهم میدانم. توجه به این موضوع غالباً در بسیاری از برنامه‌های ریکاوری و درمان از قلم می‌افتد.
از خانواده صحبت شد، مدتی می‌شود که از شما درباره همسرتان زهرا، امین، آنی و شانی نپرسیده‌ام. لطفاً مرا در جریان فعالیت‌های آنان قرار دهید. آن‌ها را بخشی از خانواده بزرگ‌تر خودم میدانم و امیدوارم که خوب باشند.
نظر من درباره همکاری با مراکز علمی در سطح جهانی را پرسیده بودید. من کاملاً معتقدم، این رویکرد آینده ما خواهد بود و باید بررسی کنیم که چگونه موانعی که قبلاً درباره این موضوع با آن‌ها مواجه شدیم را از سر راه برداریم.
وقتی پروژه کتاب تمام شد دوباره روی این موضوع متمرکز می‌شوم تا بتوانم پیشنهادانی دراین‌باره داشته باشم.
من و ریتا خوب هستیم. تعداد زیادی از اعضای خانواده ریتا نزدیک به ما زندگی می‌کنند که مداوم آن‌ها را می‌بینیم و برای سفر برنامه‌ریزی می‌کنیم که در ماه مارس به دیدار خواهران من برویم.

Dear Hossein,
Let me begin this communication by filling you in on my progress on our latest book project. My new year load of other professional work has been light so I have been able to make substantial progress each day on the planned book. To date, I have completed selecting excerpts from your posted interviews, your papers, and the following books: Crossing the Zone 60 Degrees Below Zero, The Blissful State, White Eagle, Love: Fourteen Valleys for Recovery, and Innovations in Addiction Treatment and Recovery: The Story of Congress 60. I am also making substantial progress reviewing each of your email communications to me since 2009 and selecting quotes from them. I hope to have this latter review completed within the next one to two weeks.
Once the review is complete, I will edit the draft before sending it to you to eliminate any duplication of content within each topic area. I will also send along a list of any topics that I think would be good to include that are not covered that I would ask you to reflect on and offer some brief informational/inspirational comment on. With that completed, you will be able to review the book and add any material you would wish to be included that I have not included in the draft.
With our primary focus on offering guidance and inspiration to individuals and families seeking recovery and those working as caretakers in addiction treatment, I do not think there will be a need to review the scientific papers you have completed. (I do congratulate you on these latest publications.) Once you review the draft, you can edit any excerpts from these that you think should be included for a more general audience.
I am trying to be quite particular in the excerpts I am recommending to select some of the most important messages from your writings while keeping this “little book” under 200 pages or at least close to that so it can serve as a pocket companion. This way it can serve as a book of guidance one can easily carry on one’s person and also serve as a book from which excerpts can be read to stir discussion in recovery support meetings or professional staff meetings within addiction treatment programs.
I must tell you what a joy it has been to spend such concentrated time re-reading so much of what you have written over the years and what an honor it is for me to have the responsibility of recommended to you which excerpts from these writings to include in this “Little Book of Addiction Recovery: Reflections of Hossein Dezhakam, Founder, Congress 60 Recovery Community. Islamic Republic of Iran.” I am using this as the draft working title. I like the humility implied by the title and it reflects the smaller physical size of the book we envision. It is also a play on words a bit as the basic text of Alcoholics Anonymous from which all 12-Step groups are derived is known as “The Big Book.”
Do continue to let me know what you think of these ideas about the book. I hope to have an updated draft for your review very soon.
This is the first I am aware of your co-traveler week celebration. What a wonderful idea! Addiction places such an enormous strain on these relationships, distorting intimate feelings and nearly every aspect of family life. The DST method is such a prominent part of Congress 60 that all that you are doing to reconstruct personal character and family and social relationships can be overlooked. I commend this attention to family life as part of the recovery process. Such attention is oft-neglected in many treatment and recovery support programs.
Speaking of family, it has been some time since I have asked you about your wife Zahra and about Amin, Ani, and Shani. Please let me know of their activities. I think of them as part of my extended family and hope that they are doing well.
You asked about the advisability of collaborating with other scientific centers internationally. I do believe this is the approach for the future and that we should continue to explore how to overcome some of the obstacles we have encountered before in this regard. I will give this some renewed focus so that I can offer suggestions to you once our book project is completed.
Rita and I are doing well. Rita has a large number of family members living close to us that we regularly visit, and we are planning a trip for March to visit with my sisters.
