Dear Hossein,
I am glad to hear that you are well. Thank you for your warm greetings and best wishes for Alisha. She started chemotherapy this week and will continue this treatment for 18 weeks and then be evaluated for any needed surgery. So far, she is handling the treatment very well. We have many cancer survivors in my family so our hopes are that Alisha will join us in have survived our battle with this disease. Alisha’s current condition adds to my appreciation of the cancer research studies you are conducting. I so hope these studies will open new avenues of treatment for this dreaded disease.
As you know, I have started my weekly recovery blog again and will be announcing your latest book in the weeks to come. I am not sure how long I will continue these brief recovery messages. I have posted more than 350 of these blogs over the past eight years.
We have also discussed the future of my website and I wanted to let you know that I am now having meetings with Chestnut Health Systems, which I helped found in the early 1970s and at which I worked most of my career, on transitioning the website to their sponsorship. That will assure our writings will remain available beyond our own existence. That is a legacy we can now be assured of. This was of concern to me due to several colleagues who died this past year due to Covid-19 and to the approach of my 74th birthday.
Regarding your question, OT is available in the U.S. only by prescription and is prescribed primarily for the treatment of diarrhea. It has not been used in the treatment of addiction as far as I know. OT is distributed by several drug companies here. It is available in four and eight ounce bottles that by law must contain "POISON" on the label due to the perceived risk of overdose. I have some inquiries out to find out if there is any use of OT as a treatment for addiction in the U.S. of which I am unaware.
Opioid-addicted people in the U.S. are desperate to find a complete cure. I received a report this morning on the first case of brain surgery in the U.S. as an attempt to cure addiction in a man who had tried numerous other approaches but had remained addicted. Imagine the level of hopelessness that would lead to a decision to have extremely high risk brain surgery. We still have so much to learn about addiction and its successful treatment. The mission of Congress 60 to bring light into this darkness is an extremely noble one.
Friends and Brothers Forever,
Bill
