Dear Hossein,

It is always good to hear from you.  

I am delighted to hear you are exploring a photo gallery for the Congress 60 Website. Perhaps in the future Shani will do a documentary film on Congress 60 that will share the Congress 60 story and its methods with the world. I look forward to that day. The first albums within the photo gallery on my website should go live later this week. There is much to be done on them but they will provide an idea of what I had in mind. My photographic and tech skills are not nearly as good as those possessed within Congress 60 so I think your photo gallery may be a model of how I can improve my own.

Congratulations on the upcoming performance of Windows in the Sky. I suspect there will be much truth telling buried within the jokes of this play.

I have added the reflections you sent on ethics for recovery organization leaders to the notes I am preparing for our planned blog. I hope to work on a draft of the blog that I can share with you in the next few weeks. The only delay may be that I had serious computer problems this past week and had to get a new computer so I am still learning the updated programs on the new computer. These tech challenges are difficult at my age.

The insights you provided on ethics are very helpful. Here are a few other questions I would appreciate your thoughts on.

1) Some leaders have great personal charisma. What are the advantages and risks of such charisma?

2) Could you expand on the idea/dangers of the “hungry ego”? I love this idea!

3) Successful leadership of business organizations is often based on annual profit. How should successful leadership of a recovery community organization be measured?

Thanks you for the photos of this years’ summer camp. I so enjoy viewing these and find it quite inspiring to see that many people in recovery gathering for fun, fellowship, and mutual support.

This week the people in Southeastern United States faced the threat of a major hurricane. It’s path moved east allowing Southern Florida to escape the worst, but the Bahama Islands received horrible destruction and the hurricane is now strengthening before touch ground further north in the U.S. These natural disasters are coming more frequently. Mother nature is not pleased with how we have treated her.
