Thank you for the suggested revision to the interview. I will make these changes and get this posted on my website in late February or early March. I will let you know when it is posted.
I received a call on February 2 that my mother’s health was rapidly declining. I flew to her home in Illinois the next day and arrived a few hours before she passed away. She died peacefully at the age of 95 surrounded by three generations of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and many friends who loved and were inspired by her. She bore six children, adopted another, and helped raise more than 20 foster children. She was a nurse who served in World War II and went on to a long nursing career. She was a great inspiration for me and a source of unwavering support during some of the darkest periods of my life. And, of course, she was proud of all the service roles her children and grandchildren pursued.
It will take some time to absorb this loss and get back to the daily routines I find so fulfilling. I will write more in the coming weeks,
