I caught a flu but now I am fine and I hope you are fine. I am so sorry for the delay in my response. Ehsan traveled to Armenia therefore I received the translation of your letter with a delay.
I am so happy for Alisha and Stewart. The wedding took place in a beautiful area. I congratulate you and Mrs. Rita once more and I hope their bond will become stronger day after day and they will live happily ever after.
I believe medical treatment and recovery are two sides of a coin which I call it cure. But things happened in a way that these two (treatment and recovery) became separated and each claimed addiction treatment separately.
The key to solve this situation is to combine medical treatment and recovery once more. It is about 20 years that I am trying to do so. I even told our members (exceeded 50,000 individuals in past few days!) to resume their educations in fields like medical, psychology, psychiatry, nursing, counseling and etc. to be able to get involved in clinics.
You are aware that Ehsan pursued his formal education in psychology after completion of his treatment and now he is working in an addiction treatment clinic in Tehran.
Many of our members are educating in addiction related fields now.
This was a 20 years planning for me and whether I live to see it through or not doesn’t make any difference for me.
And physicians’ legion was another effective point in rejoining medical treatment with recovery. This legion is functioning since 5 years ago and now requests to form legion within clinics increases daily. The patients of clinics are getting more involved in treatment programs now.
3 physicians and a psychiatrist passed the co-guide examination in recent years and this year we had some candidates and hopefully they are going to be accepted.
I am trying to extend the physicians’ legion to become like a Congress 60’s formal session. Because those physicians who passed the examinations are now wearing orange shawls and they are teaching methods of Congress 60 to other physicians.
This is going to be the foundation of university or the academy.
In order to cure addiction all three aspects of body, psyche and worldview must be taken into consideration. Medical treatment must be done with recovery simultaneously.
Dear Bill, I am so delighted to know that people in recovery are going back to university to pursue addiction related fields. This is exactly what I have been chasing these years.
Many students of different universities are coming to us to do addiction related researches.
I am delighted that you are on the dissertation committees of three students who are going to focus their research in this area. If they required any help I am at their service as well. It is a great honor for them that you are consulting them.
I think newspaper, magazines, TV, radio, and social media can be utilized to find those who are at early stage of addiction. We have been using website very well and now our daily hits is about 34000 individuals.
Our wrestling team went to Armenia. Most of the teams didn’t attend the competition sadly. But fortunately an American team were there and they wrestled against Congress 60. Anyway it was not formal but it was a good experience for Congress 60. I asked Ehsan to send related videos and photos.
Some formal laws in Iran changed last few days. I think the penalty for having more than 30 grams heroin and 5 kilograms of opium was death before. In new law the penalty death is for more than 5 kilograms heroin and more than 100 kilograms opium.
Now the narcotics price will not go up. Because the high price of narcotics results in more homeless and thousands of other problems!
Now we are hearing whispers that some (who has sentenced to prison because of narcotics issues) will be released and this makes me happy.
