Communications of Hossein and Bill (Reply to Hossein - Apr 24, 2017)

Apr 24, 2017

Dear Hossein,

Today I posted on Facebook a note of congratulations to you for Congress 60’s award for its work in addiction treatment and recovery.  This is a wonderful acknowledgement for you and for all members of Congress 60 and truly well deserved.  I don’t do much on social media but when I shared your news with Rita she suggested I do the posting as a way to spread the wonderful work you are doing.

The co-guide examination enrollment of 3200 is quite remarkable and a testament to the strong service ethic within Congress 60.  My best wishes to all who will be taking the exam.

You are quite right about treatment policies based on ignorance and falsehoods.  The true knowledge of this condition and its solutions seem to ebb and flow, and we seem to be in a period of regression at the moment in the U.S. But there are many recovery advocates organizing around the country to try to correct this shift.  But these are battles that we hoped had already been won.

I look forward to publication of your “14 articles” book.  Have you chosen a title for it yet?  I think this book will be an important milestone in educating professionals, the public and policymakers on addiction, the proper methods of addiction treatment, and optimism for recovery.  When it is published, I will be happy to help promote it among my readers and see if it can be reviewed in some of the U.S. addiction journals.  When do you expect it to be released?

For the past few years, Rita and I have been seeing plays at a local theatre and have really enjoyed the performances.  There are also music concerts that we enjoy.  Since I no longer travel, we have many more opportunities for such activities.

My warmest regards to your family and to all members of Congress 60.

Friends and Brothers Forever,
Bill
