مشاوره تازه واردین ایده‌ای بسیار عالی است. این باعث می‌شود تا یک‌لایه به پیشرفت رهبری در کنگره ۶۰ اضافه شود و همچنین فرصت‌های بیشتر برای خدمت ایجاد می‌کند. مطالعات اخیر نشان می‌دهد که یکی از بهترین پیش‌بینی کننده‌های ریکاوری بلند مدت خدمت به دیگران است. به نظرم جایگاه‌های خدمتی در کنگره ۶۰ فوندانسیون آن است و این فوندانسیون بزرگ‌تر و قدرتمندتر شده است.
بابت عکس‌های مربوط به مراسم این نقش جدید سپاسگزارم. این عکس‌های فوق‌العاده به مجموعه عکس‌های من از کنگره ۶۰ اضافه شدند.
بیشتر قسمت‌های ایالات‌متحده زمستان بسیار سختی تجربه کرده‌اند بنابراین ما که در فلوریدا هستیم احساس خوشبختی می‌کنیم که از خورشید و دمای مطبوع در ماه‌های زمستانی بهره‌مند بوده‌ایم. این هفته من و ریتا برای قدم زدن به کنار ساحل رفتیم و درختان و درختچه‌های زیادی در حال جوانه زدن دیدیم.
درختچه‌های بامیه گل داده‌اند و من دو عکس از این گل‌ها که در مسیر پیاده‌روی دیدیم برای شما فرستاده‌ام. دیوار اسکله ساحلی ما در اثر طوفان دوسال قبل آسیب‌دیده بود و اکنون بازسازی آن تقریباً تکمیل‌شده است. طوفان‌های گاه‌به‌گاه بهایی است که برای زندگی در آب‌وهوای گرمسیری می‌پردازیم.
به تازگی به تحقیقی درباره مشکلات پزشکی افراد در ریکاوری در ایالات‌متحده کمک کردم. خبر خوب اینکه افراد زیادی در ریکاوری در یک تحقیق مشاهده‌ای ملی یافتیم.
خبر بد اینکه تعداد زیادی از آن‌ها در طی یک سال از ریکاوری بیماری‌هایی داشته‌اند ( مانند دیابت، بیماری قلبی، سرطان( بیشتر به خاطر سیگار کشیدن زیاد) و بیماری‌های عفونی مانند هپاتیت نوع بی و سی). فکر کنم کار جالبی که در آینده به‌عنوان تحقیق می‌توانیم انجام دهیم بررسی وضعیت سلامتی اعضای کنگره ۶۰ است تا ببینیم که آیا متد DST رواج بیماری‌های موجود در ریکاوری بلندمدت را کاهش می‌دهد یا خیر.
فرضیه ما این خواهد بود که اثرات بازسازی متدDST ریسک مشکلات سلامتی بعد از قطع دارو را کاهش می‌دهد.
به‌تازگی چندین کتاب درباره تاریخچه اپیدمی مواد مخدر در آمریکا خوانده‌ام که نقش صنعت داروسازی در این اپیدمی را برجسته کرده‌اند. این کار از طریق معرفی مخدرهای قوی و سپس گروه‌های بدون وجدان که پزشکان را مجبور به تجویز این داروها کرده‌اند انجام‌شده است. همواره فرض من این بوده است که بیشتر اعتیاد به مخدر در ایران از طریق بازار غیرقانونی بوده است.
آیا این‌گونه مشکلات مخدرهای تجویزشده نیز در ایران وجود دارد؟

Dear Hossein,
The newcomer's consultors is an excellent idea. It will add another layer to the leadership development within Congress 60 and also provide a larger number of people opportunities for service. Several recent studies have found that one of the best predictors of long-term recovery is service to others. I think of the service roles in Congress 60 as the foundation and that foundations is now expanding and becoming stronger. Thank you for the photos of the ceremony for this new role. They are a wonderful addition to my collection of Congress 60 photos.
Much of the United States has experienced a very harsh winter so those of us who live in Florida are feeling quite blessed with the sunshine and pleasant temperatures we have here during the winter months. Rita and I went on a walk around the Marina this week and found many flowering trees and shrubs. The hibiscus shrubs are blooming and I attached two of the flowers that we saw on our walk. Our marina seawalls were damaged from a hurricane year before last and the repairs are almost complete. The occasional hurricane is the price we pay for living in this tropical climate.
I just helped with a study of the medical problems experienced by people in recovery in the U.S. The good news is that we found a substantial population of people in recovery in a national survey. The troubling news was that many of them experience on-going medical problems years into their recovery, e.g., diabetes, heart disease, cancer (from past/present heavy smoking), and infectious disease such as hepatitis B & C. I think an interesting item to add in future survey of Congress 60 members would be on health status to determine if the DST method reduces the prevalence of such problems in long-term recovery. The hypothesis would be that the reparative effects of the DST method lower the risk of health problems following discontinuation of medication support.
I recently finished reading several books on the history of the recent opioid epidemic in the U.S. that highlighted the role of the pharmaceutical industry in this epidemic via the introduction of new powerful opioids and many unscrupulous marketing practices to get physicians to prescribe them. I have always assumed that the majority of opioid addiction in Iran resulting from the illicit market. Has there been much of a problem created by medically prescribed opioids in Iran? I have not seem that referenced in what I have read about addiction in Iran.
Work on the photo gallery for my website continues and I hope to have it finished by April and resume writing my weekly recovery blogs.
